28. August 2025

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church marked the 11th anniversary of the enthronement of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine with a solemn Divine Liturgy on August 17, at the St. Panteleimon Convent in the Feofania district of Kiev. The Sunday service, falling on the 10th Sunday after Pentecost, was led by Met. Onuphry himself, joined by numerous hierarchs and clergy, reports the Diocese of Vinnitsa.

During the service, special petitions were offered to the Lord for the establishment of peace on Ukrainian soil, strengthening of faith and hope in people’s hearts, comfort for those who have suffered and lost their homes, and God’s blessing upon those who provide aid to the needy. During the Little Entrance, the Ukrainian primate elevated several UOC hierarchs to the ranks of archbishop and metropolitan and awarded the abbot of the Pochaev Lavra, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, the right to wear a second Panagia.

Following the Liturgy, congratulatory messages were announced and read from the primates of the Serbian, Polish, Czech-Slovak, Orthodox Church in America, and Macedonian Orthodox Churches, as well as from the head of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia and the Serbian Church’s Metropolis of Montenegro. His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Poland wrote in his message: “By God’s will, the cross of the much-suffering Ukrainian Church has been placed upon your shoulders, which you bear with humility and prayer.” (Quelle: www.orthochristian.com, 20.
