Call for Papers: Tradition and Traditions
Mega-conference of the International Orthodox Theological Association (IOTA)
The third mega-conference of the International Orthodox Theological Association (IOTA) will take place in Poti and Kobuleti, Republic of Georgia on 17-21 January 2027. The overall theme of the conference is “Tradition and Traditions.” This theme will be featured in the sessions of some, but not all of IOTA’s thirty groups. Each group has issued a specific Call for Papers (CFP), which is described in the drop-down menu below. To submit a proposal, familiarize yourself with each group’s CFP carefully. Your proposal must be between 500 and 750 words in length and written in English, which is the working language of the conference. All proposed papers must be substantially original and never have been published previously. Each conference attendee may deliver only one paper at a regular session.
Selection Criteria:
The selection of proposals is competitive. Your proposal will be judged on the basis of five criteria: (1) the fit of the proposal with the group’s call for papers; (2) a clear and informative introduction to your topic; (3) the major points of your argument, and an overview of the evidence supporting your argument; (4) a convincing statement on the significance and originality of your work; (5) the conclusions you propose.
Full Session Proposals
A limited number of timeslots at the mega-conference will be allotted to special and book review session formats. To submit a full session proposal, click on the last two entries of the drop-down menu below.
